Book of the kids in my life who I am Aunty to (by blood or otherwise). Still haven't managed to sit down and fill in all the relevent data.
July Kit 2009 - a different style for me. First time I hand cut images from patterned paper and journalling on paint. The background patterned paper was too busy for me to add journaling directly to it. I didn't want to create a journalling block out of cardstock as that would be too intrusive. My solution? Smeared acrylic paint on the background paper to create a subtle area for journaling.
July 2009 Kit
Handcut pattern from patterned paper again. I really liked the paper but felt it was too busy to add these photos to so I reduced the distraction level by cutting out the shapes from the patterned paper and strategically placed them so that they were no longer dominant on the page.
July 2009 Kit again
The background cardstock is embossed - gorgeous. I could've inked over the raised images on the cardstock but I wanted the photos to be the centre focus. When you've got great photos why take attention away from them? I could've frou-froued the Bazzil mesh aswell but again it would've grabbed more attention and neither myself nor my friends are frou-frou kinda gals! Gotta stay true to your own personal style. The monogram V, bosher and large star brad came with the kit. I cut the brad legs off and adhered the star to the bosher then I cut the letters 'L' and 'e' from paper from the kit. I had to borrow a friend's cuttlebug and embossing die to add detail to the letters. Where would we be without our friends?
Monthly Online Challenge: December 2009
My challenge for December was create a layout about Christmas without using traditional Christmas colours (ie, not green and red). Pink is not a colour I usually work with (and is never seen in my wardrobe) but I do like the teal/pink combination. Again, (can you see a personal style developing?) there is not a lot of embellishment on the page as I wanted the gorgeous design of the paper (DCWV in case you were wondering) to show through. I just added a few spots of bling here and there. The ribbon I used actually had images of baby booties on the other side (the correct side); I just turned it over and used the blank side as it matched my colour scheme.
